Too Many Wires
This defies common sense
Electrical connections should be inside of closed junction boxes to reduce the risk of shock and to keep fire from spreading rapidly if something goes wrong. In order to fit all the wires inside, this group of cables needs a much larger junction box or —better still— several junction boxes for the different circuits.
I often see amateur workmanship done by homeowners, but this was done by a licensed electrician. Even worse, the work had a permit that was signed off by a municipal inspector. Unfortunately it was only one of many problems created during an addition to this older residence.
