Knob & Tube Wiring
This wiring is a century old
Knob & tube wiring was the original way to get electricity into a house. At the time it was the only wiring method available. Now we have much better materials. Unfortunately much of the old knob & tube material is in poor condition. Amateur electricians often use the wrong methods to tie new wring into the old (as shown here). In most cases the knob & tube wiring should be removed and replaced - usually an expensive proposition.
