Old Wood Shake Shingles
This shake shingle is "burned through"
Wood shingles get thinner and thinner with age. This shingle has worn so thin there is a hole clean through to the roofing felt underneath (the only thing still keeping rain out). A few isolated shingles like this can be replaced. If the problem is more than a few then it usually makes more sense to replace the whole roof.
