Wrong Solution
The homeowner cut almost completely through the roof framing in order to install this garage door opener, leaving the flat roof structure with no strength to withstand snow loads (or even a person walking on it). It will be relativly simply to remove this opener and splice some lumber back onto the damaged framing. The sad thing is that low-clearance openers are available that mount to the wall instead of the ceiling to avoid this type of problem.
